Although the opportunities for al fresco dining in the UK are often infrequent and short-lived, when the sun does make an appearance there is nothing nicer than enjoying a bite to eat outside. Here are four great places to dine outdoors.

1. The Lido, Bristol

Make the most of being in Bristol! The Bristol Lido allows you to combine dining outdoors with that other summer pleasure — an outdoor swim. Throughout the summer you can dine next to the pool on open terraces (but with a roof so your meal won’t be spoiled by a drop of rain).

2. Pebble Beach, Hampshire

As part of a coastal break in Hampshire, the clifftop terrace at Pebble Beach has breath-taking views of the Needles. What’s more, the food is just as impressive as the views, having won numerous awards.

3. Lewinnick Lodge, Cornwall

Although near Newquay, you’ll feel miles away from the hustle and bustle at Lewinnick Lodge. Set out of sight on Pentire Headland, dine on the outdoor terrace for views across the Atlantic — where dolphins are often spotted. Perfect for a break in Cornwall.

4. The Red House, Chester

Planning a Cheshire trip and want somewhere special in Chester? Eat on the lawn at The Red House for beautiful views over the River Dee. And don’t worry if the weather turns – the rear of the pub is made entirely of glass to make the most of the riverside setting.
